OK, the Major League Baseball All-Star game is behind us, that means I can officially start talking about football without people saying, “Come On, You Can’t Talk Football Yet!” So guess what, I am going to talk football. What better way to kick things off then with a little College Football. We all know that ranking mean nothing until the end of the year, unless your Boise St and can’t move up fast enough to play for a National Championship, even though you probably deserve it. Still we need pre-season rankings so we have something to discuss and argue about until they actually get on the field. So here we go, our 2010 Pre-Season College Football Top 25!
#1 Alabama – The defending champs are still the team to knock off!
#2 Ohio St – A favorable schedule & Terrelle Pryor could send the Buckeyes to the top!
#3 Boise St – 21 of 22 starters back from last year’s undefeated season.
#4 Texas – Longhorns need to reload a bit, but could be there in the end.
#5 TCU – Another BCS Bowl should be in their sites with plenty returning
#6 Florida – The Gators face the rebuilding questions. How long will it take?
#7 Nebraska – Pelini has the Huskers headed in the right direction.
#8 Miami-FL – A tough road in the ACC won’t make it easy. Harris is the key.
#9 Wisconsin – Badgers return 10 on offense & get Ohio St in Mad-town!
#10 Oregon – Ducks may be the cream of the Pac-10, but what does that mean?
#11 Iowa – Need a repeat of last year’s start and a whole new O-line.
#12 Virginia Tech – Maybe the best backfield in the country with QB Taylor, RB Williams and RB Evans.
#13 Oklahoma – Time to bounce back from a disaster in 2009.
#14 North Carolina – The D won’t allow many points, but will the O score many?
#15 Southern Cal – No Carroll, plenty of trouble, what will Kiffen do?
#16 Florida St – Tough schedule to start the Jimbo Fisher Era.
#17 Cincinnati – New Coach, New QB, Same results in the Big East.
#18 Georgia Tech – Triple Option is always scary, but so is the ACC-Coastal.
#19 LSU – Pressure is building in the Bayou after a couple of tough seasons.
#20 Oregon St – Tough start w/ TCU & Boise St. in September could decide their fate.
#21 Pittsburgh – Dion Lewis will call the ball and this team. Just how far?
#22 Arkansas – Great finish to last year and plenty returning are good signs.
#23 Utah – Mountain West starting to turn heads and get respect.
#24 Auburn – Theis team seems to be heading in the right direction.
#25 Navy – The Middies made noise last year and should do more of the same in 2010.
So there you go. Did you see your team? Is it where you thought it would be. Got a problem with it or think things look about right. Like I said at the beginning, that is what pre-season rankings are good for. Time to yell and scream and get the blood pumping. Let us know what you think.
