The NFL Preseason is winding down and now it is time for our experts to make their predictions. Let’s see who everyone likes and feel free to send your predictions in to compare to our handicappers. We had eleven of our handicappers give us their picks. Of the 11, four of them have the Atlanta Falcons taking home the Lombardi Trophy, while 3 others took the Falcons division rivals, the New Orleans Saints. Interestingly, no one picked the Vegas favorite and defending champion Green Bay Packers to repeat. We did have 2 teams with a complete sweep of the division picks. Both the Chargers (AFC West) and the Green Bay Packers (NFC North) were selected by all 11 handicappers to win their division.

AFC North

Cincinnati- nice run last year but got humbled in post season…offense will score plenty with solid receivers…TE position should finally energe as viable weapon (Gresham), but will addition of TO be a detriment to chemistry?…Benson and Scott very capable on ground…defense a Top 5 unit in my opinion…kicking game a question…Over 8 1/2 wins

Baltimore- offense will likely garner more accolades this year…QB Flacco very underrated, and RB Rice a game-changing dynamo…upgrade at WR with addition of Boldin…D still solid but no longer elite…secondary already decimated by injuries…4 of first 6 games are in enemy territory (Jets, Cincy, Pit, NEP)…Over 9 1/2 wins

Pittsburgh- situation with Big Ben disrupting usual continuity…air attack not imposing…O-Line needs improvement, especially in pass protection…stingy, physical stoppers still hallmark of team…3 straight road games weeks 7-9 (Miami, New Orl, Cincy), but 3 of 4 December games at home…Under 8 1/2 wins

Cleveland- double digit wins just once in the last 10 seasons…young skill players on offense could surprise (Harrison, Massaquoi, Cribbs)…shaky at most important position on field- QB (Delhomme, Wallace)…3 in a row away from home in December…final 3 games are vs division opponents…Over 5 1/2 wins

AFC East

Miami- aerial capabilities will surprise with improving Henne and new addition, go-to wideout Marshall…rushing attack still solid with healthy Ronnie Brown…underrated OL…D will miss Taylor & Porter (16 combined sacks)…must play Minn, G Bay, Cincy & Balt on road…Over 8 1/2 wins

NY Jets- Rex Ryan creating extra pressure with bold proclamations…upgrades on both sides of ball (WR Holmes, DB Cromartie), plus wiley vets LT and Jason Taylor add depth…Revis situation a distraction, but defense will again be top-shelf…Over 9 1/2 wins

New England- a bit under the radar but still very cabale of taking division…Brady still elite QB, and Moss always dangerous deep threat, but health of Welker a concern…look for emergence of Julian Edelman…running game a question mark…loss of DE Warren a huge blow to stop unit…difficult schedule includes Balt, SD, Minn, Indy & G Bay…Over 9 1/2 wins

Buffalo- continuing disaster in western New York…new HC Gailey has unsettled QB situation, injuries at RB, shallow receiving corps, and shaky OL…some talent on D, but will underachive with new coordinator (Edwards)…road games at G Bay, Balt, Cincy & Minn, plus tough divisional opponents…Under 5 1/2 wins

Every year hopes are high in the NFL for pretty much all 32 teams.  Unlike the NBA where only about 5 or 6 teams really have a legit chance of winning the championship, or even less in Major League Baseball, the NFL has seen teams rise from the bottom one year to a Super Bowl the next.  The word “repeat” is hardly ever heard after the term “Super Bowl Champion”.  Finally the 12 playoff teams from the past season, return to the playoffs less than 50% of the time.  As a matter of fact, in the past 7 seasons, of the 12 teams that made the playoffs the year before, only an average of 5.4 teams per season make it back to the playoffs and when you think that that Colts have made it to they playoffs every year since 2002, the rest of the leagues average drops even more.  As a matter of fact, in the last 7 seasons, there has never been a season with more than 7 repeat playoff teams from the season before.  So with that said we asked some of the Freeplays.com handicappers to predict their 2010-11 NFL Playoffs and Super Bowl.  Lets take a look at what they come up with.  A couple quick notes.  First the 12 playoff teams from last season were  the Patriots, Jets, Bengals, Ravens, Colts, Chargers, Cowboys, Eagles,Vikings, Packers, Saints and Cardinals. Second of all, it was Spike Measer at Big Time Sports that predicted the Colts and the Saints in the Super Bowl last year.  So this year we had 10 handicappers fill out their selections, so lets take a look at what they selected.  The handicappers we Mike Wynn (MW), Razor Sharp (RS), Jim Feist (JF), Big Time (BT), #1 Sports (#1), Easy Money (EM), Arthur Ralph (AR) Vegas Steam Line (VS), Hawkeye Sports (HS) and Teya’s Sports (TS).
