Let the Dance Begin!

The time that so many of us wait for each and every year is finally here! If you are a fan of the pandemonium of March Madness this year should not disappoint. To me the field is wide open and even though I believe that there were a few mistakes by the committee this year, it should be a outstanding tournament. Before we take a look at the odds to cut down the nets, I do want to mention the teams I believe should have made it in and a couple that should have been left out. The first thing that pumped out at me was the exclusion of USC, while fellow Pac-12er Arizona St got in. USC was the #2 seed in the Pac-12 Tourney at 12-6 (23-11 overall) while Arizona St was the #8 seed at 8-10 (20-11 overall). While Arizona St was bounced in the first round of the conference tourney, USC played in the Championship game. The only argument for Arizona St was wins over #1 seeds Kansas And Xavier, but that was back in December. I also think that Oklahoma St deserved to be in over, in-state rival, Oklahoma. They both were 8-10 in conference play but Oklahoma St won 2 of 3 heads-up match-ups between these teams, including last weeks tourney game 71-60. Oklahoma started fast this year but lost 8 of their last 10 games, 11 of their last 15. Finally I would have taken St Marys-CA over Syracuse. St Marys may not have had as tough of a schedule but they did go 28-5 for the year including 1-1 versus Top-25 teams (win over Gonzaga). On the other hand, Syracuse was 20-13 overall and finished as the 11 seed in their conference tourney. They were just 1-7 versus Top-25 teams this year (win over Clemson). Louisville & Notre Dame also finished ahead of Syracuse in the ACC and did not get an invite to the NCAA. That being said, if your have to worry about being the 36th best at-large team, do you really have that big of an argument to play for a National Championship? That being said, lets take a look at the odds win the NCAA Tourney, along with each region.
